Shang-Chi grossed $42 million in its third weekend, with $20.3 million coming from 43 outside countries. The film’s overall foreign gross is now $143.7 million, with a worldwide total of $320.6 million, making it Hollywood’s fourth-biggest release of the year. Shang-Chi remained number one in Australia, Brazil, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and other countries, despite a 44 percent decrease in international sales.
Shang-Chi not only had a successful box office run, but it also had the highest Rotten Tomatoes audience score of any Marvel Cinematic Universe picture. The film received mostly good reviews from reviewers, garnering a 92 percent critics score after 283 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, as well as a 98 percent audience score after 10,000+ reviews. “One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s finest origin tales to date,” he said, giving the film a 4.5 out of 5.
Simu Liu portrays Shang-Chi, Awkwafina portrays Katy, Meng’er Zhang portrays Xialing, Tony Leung portrays Wenwu, Michelle Yeoh portrays Jiang Nan, Ben Kingsley portrays Trevor Slattery, Fala Chen portrays Ying Li, Florian Munteanu portrays Razor Fist, Ronny Chieng portrays Jon Jon, and Benedict Wong portrays Wong. Destin Daniel Cretton directed the film, which had a 45-day exclusive theater release window.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is now in cinemas, while Dune will be released on October 22nd worldwide.
